Principal’s Message

Dear Jackson Davis Families,

Welcome to the start of the 2018-2019 school year! I love the start of a new school year. Everyone is so excited to meet their teachers, see which friends are in their class and to see what new things they will learn. This year our school theme is “Be the Change.” We will continue our focus on our three Be’s-Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Ready to Learn. During the 2017-2018 school year we focused on these three expectations in order to have a successful school year. We focused on the zones of regulation so that we can always be sure we can manage our emotions and feelings in order to be ready to learn. This also helped us to teach students ways to always be their best. A theme centered around bees will help us to continue to focus on these life skills that are so important in our Jackson Davis community.  We are excited to continue to focus on the many things that we can do to set ourselves up for success each day as we start our new school year.

We are so fortunate to have a strong team of teachers and staff members who have high expectations for student success while balancing that with the needs of all students. We believe in a strong academic focus but balance that with the need for students to play, collaborate, problem solve and create. Family members are a key to our success as a school. We can’t do it without you! Together we can help all children to learn and grow as individuals and strong members of our community. We hope to see many of you involved in our school learning community this year. We are thankful to have a strong PTA partnership. They not only support us with 100% of their profits but they work collaboratively with us as a school to plan enriching activities that support our entire community. We hope that you will consider joining and supporting the PTA through their events throughout the year.

During the last school year we also spent some time learning about a growth mindset and the power of the word yet! We may not know or understand something yet but when we allow our brain to learn new things we can achieve great things. I challenge each family to set some goals for the year and talk as a family about all the things you hope to accomplish this school year. I hope that each of you will have a great year filled with fun and learning! If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or myself.

Mrs. Bonner
